Every helm has its beginning. I, Thanos, seek the knowledge of the helms my heralds choose. Their appearance is an extension of themselves and they are great killers indeed.

Please do. There are so many linked to the 80s that it is hard to find pictures of them on the net. Takes a lot of searching just to find what finally comes to recognition.

GI Joe has about 5-7 possible influences but cycling through GIjoe.wikia and it's rather lacking pics is frustrating. Luckily I receive a "teletoon retro" here in orbit. It was what helped to remember how I knew the CQC helm origin but could not remember till I saw "Rise of the Serpentor Prt. 1." (Sgt. Slaughter's first Joe appearance too).

There are a couple that aren't posted that seem familiar, but I can't remember what. I'm looking around to see if I stumble across anything.

Given the number of references this isn't a big deal, but the E.O.D. also bears a strong resemblance to the Helghast helmet from Killzone. Just thought I'd throw that in.

Can't believe it. This one was staring me in the face (literally) The J.F.O bears a really strong resemblance to the Helmet worn in TimeShift.

Also, since you posted the Hayabusa example, I will go ahead and add that the Security helmet (especially the Halo 3 incarnation) is a dead wringer for the Security Guard's helmet in Marathon, albeit with a covered mouth.
